ACRS seeks a full-time Intake Screener I in our Recovery Service department who serves as the first point of contact for individuals seeking substance use disorder (SUD) services. This role is responsible for screening clients for appointments, ensuring completion of required consents, administering urine analyses (UA) as needed, and maintaining accurate records in Epic. The position also supports billing processes by gathering required client information and assists counselors by updating and managing scheduling templates in Epic. Overall, the role ensures smooth client flow, compliance with documentation and confidentiality standards, and contributes to culturally responsive and trauma-informed care with a focus on Asian and Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander (A&NH/PI) communities, while welcoming all clients.

Work is performed in person in the office. The noise level in the work environment is moderate.

COMPETITIVE BENEFTIS PACKAGE INCLUDES:
- Pay range is between $58,400 to $63,100 annually. Can increase based on experience with possible increases after 6 months from date of hire.
- ACRS pays 100% for employee only HMO/Virtual Plus medical benefits. Additional options are covered anywhere from 75% to 85%.

- Paid Time Off:

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Conducts initial screenings for SUD services, schedules appointments, verifies client eligibility, and reviews required intake documentation. Ensures clients are prepared for services and connected to appropriate staff.
- Welcomes clients, checks them in for appointments, collects signatures for all consents, and provides guidance on policies and processes. Collects collateral documents to support SUD assessment. Arranges interpreter for intake.
- Administers UAs as requested by counselors or supervisors, follows all chain-of-custody protocols, and documents results in Epic. Submits UA supply order to the lab/ensure supply restock. Prepares UA for UPS pick-up. Ensures testing is conducted in a professional, respectful, and confidential manner.
- Accurately enters and updates client information, schedules, and group rosters in Epic. Updates counselor scheduling templates and generates reports as needed.
- Ensures accurate client registration and intake data to support billing requirements for SUD services. Collaborates with billing staff to resolve discrepancies. Helps ensure agency revenue integrity and compliance with payer requirements.
- Assists with client communications, filing, and coordination of front desk and program operations. Supports implementation of agency policies and compliance standards. May handle client/external record requests. Helps ensure smooth daily operations of Recovery Services.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary coursework in behavioral health, social services, or related field preferred.
- Previous experience in a behavioral health, medical front office, or client services role preferred.
- Familiarity with behavioral health billing processes (Medicaid/managed care preferred).
- Cultural Humility:
- Ability to provide effective and respectful quality care and services that are responsive to diverse cultural beliefs and practices.
- Knowledge and Skills:
- Fluency in Asian and Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander language preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work as a team member with clinical and support staff.
- Understanding of trauma-informed care principles.
- Basic knowledge of SUD services and confidentiality standards (42 CFR Part 2, HIPAA).
- Ability to maintain professionalism when working with individuals in crisis.
- Knowledge of billing procedures related to SUD services. Basic knowledge of ASAM, DSM-5, and ICD-10.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in Epic EHR for client registration, scheduling, group management, documentation, and counselor template updates.
- Skilled in patient registration management, ensuring accuracy of demographics, insurance, and billing information.
- Working knowledge of SUD billing requirements (Medicaid/managed care) to support accurate claims.
- Strong skills in data accuracy and compliance (42 CFR Part 2, HIPAA).
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams) and adaptable to new software.
- Ability to maintain rosters, UA logs, and reports to support program compliance and counselor productivity.
- Additional Requirements:
- Must have reliable transportation. If using a personal or agency vehicle to fulfill job duties, must have a valid driver's license and be insurable under ACRS's auto policy. If using personal vehicle, must have current auto insurance. Staff are expected to use an agency vehicle for work-related travel whenever available.
